NICK NEWMAN STOLE MY LIFE! Y&R Fan's Nightmare Unveiled!

A St. Thomas resident recently fell victim to a sophisticated online scam, highlighting the growing dangers lurking on social media. The deception centered around a Facebook fan page dedicated to the popular soap opera, *The Young and the Restless*.

The victim was targeted by an imposter claiming to be Nick Newman, a long-running character on the show, portrayed by actor Joshua Morrow since 1994. This individual skillfully persuaded the resident to send over $250 worth of Apple gift cards.

The scam unfolded after the resident initiated contact through the show’s fan page. It wasn’t until a vigilant store employee intervened, recognizing the hallmarks of the fraud, that the resident realized she had been deceived.

Meanwhile, in Windsor, police are actively pursuing a third suspect connected to a brazen break-and-enter at a business on Hawthorne Drive. The incident, which occurred on the night of February 23rd, involved cutting a hole in a fence to gain access to the property.

The suspects made off with construction equipment, further damaging a welder-generator in their attempt to steal it. They fled the scene in a U-Haul van, leaving behind a trail of evidence for investigators to follow.

Police quickly identified two suspects, leading to the arrest of a 40-year-old man on February 26th after a brief struggle. A search following the arrest uncovered a disturbing cache of illegal substances, including crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, and an unidentified powdery substance.

The search also yielded drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, cutting agents, packaging materials, and over $400 in cash. Crucially, a tool previously reported stolen during the break-in was also recovered.

The 40-year-old man now faces multiple charges, including drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and break-and-enter. A second suspect, a 64-year-old man, was apprehended later that evening and charged with related offenses.

The search for the third suspect remains ongoing. He is described as a white male of medium build, last seen wearing a black winter coat, hooded sweatshirt, pants, and shoes, concealed by a distinctive purple-and-white balaclava.

These incidents serve as stark reminders of the diverse and evolving threats facing communities, from the emotional manipulation of online scams to the direct danger of property crimes and the illicit drug trade.
