CRIME SCENE: Toronto man wanted for threats and assaults

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a Toronto man wanted for allegedly making multiple threats and assaulting a person between May and September 2025.

The accused allegedly sent threatening messages to the victim and damaged the victim’s personal property.

Jason Spafford, 40, is wanted for assault, eleven counts of uttering threats, criminal harassment, seven counts of fail to comply with release order, three counts of fail to comply with probation order and mischief under $5,000.

Police said the accused and victim are known to each other.

He is described as 5-foot-9, 250 pounds with a large build, brown hair and a beard and has a tattoo on his right forearm and a scar above the eye.

Man nabbed in Hamilton sex assault

Police have chargd a 32-year-old Hamilton man with multiple offences following an investigation into a sexual assault involving a vulnerable young person.

On Oct. 9, the Hamilton Police Human Trafficking Unit began investigating after a young person reported being sexually assaulted.

The victim alleged they were picked up by a male suspect in the area of Barton St. and Gage Ave. in  a dark-coloured vehicle, before before being compelled to ingest an unknown substance and sexually assaulted.

The suspect was identified as Vintchentso Atanassov, 32, of Hamilton and a search warrant was executed at his residence where a Sig Sauer BB rifle, Umarex SA10 BB handgun, and 44 grams of methamphetamine were allegedly seized.

Atanassov faces nine charges including sexual assault, sexual interference, two firearm-related charges, one each of disguise with intent, and possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine).

Atanassov was also subject to a weapons prohibition order and a peace bond, resulting in two additional charges of fail to comply.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to contact the Major Drugs and Gangs Unit at 905-546-3887.

Driver faces firearms charges

A Hamilton driver faces driving and firearms offences after he was allegedly caught behind the wheel while serving a one-year driver’s licence suspension because of an impaired driving conviction.

On Saturday at 10:31 a.m., an OPP officer from the Burlington Detachment was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 6 near Leeming Rd. in Hamilton when Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology registered a hit on a passing vehicle alerting the officer of a suspended driver.

The vehicle was stopped and the lone occupant, the registered owner of the vehicle, was arrested for driving while prohibited.

Additionally, it was suspected by the officer that the driver had consumed alcohol recently and a breath demand was issued and the driver registered an “alert” on a roadside Approved Screening Device (ASD) resulting in an additional three-day driver’s licence suspension.

Police said a prohibited firearm that was being transported and stored insecurely was also seized from the vehicle at the roadside.

Jamie Kilpatrick, 28, has been charged with operation while prohibited, careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon.

Arrest in Mississauga sex assault

Peel Regional Police have charged a 39-year-old man from Toronto in connection with a sexual assault investigation.

It’s alleged that in July 2025, the accused sexually assaulted a 17-year-old female victim in the Mississauga.

Damion Andre Thomas has been charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation, luring a child under the age of 18, forcible confinement, making or publishing child pornography and possessing child pornography.

Thomas is described as 6-foot-2, heavy build, with short black hair, and dark brown eyes and is known to work as a bouncer/security guard in Toronto. Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have come into contact with the accused through his occupation.
