Every day of the year, Toronto cops send out half a dozen or more press releases seeking the public’s help in locating the vanished.
Around 99% of the time, the matters are done and dusted by the end of play the same day. The “missing” are located, and they are safe. Maybe getting drunk or high, hanging with girlfriends and boyfriends.
Sometimes, however, this doesn’t happen. Hours turn into days, then into months, and, tragically, maybe even decades.
Toronto woman Irma Galastica is in the 1% category. She has not been seen since Aug. 31, 2024.
Tracked her to Hamilton and Burlington
According to cops, on that date she was reported missing to the Toronto Police after her family did not hear from her. Detectives tracked the then 32-year-old’s last known movements to a Hamilton restaurant, then a Burlington home that allegedly contained an illicit meth lab.
“It really doesn’t look great,” one detective familiar with the case told the Toronto Sun. “When you start looking at the time frame and some of the circumstances, it doesn’t look promising.”
Halton Regional Police told the Sun there are no recent updates on the case but that it remains an active investigation and cops are hoping to release more details soon.
Galastica — who appears to have been a health and branding entrepreneur — also used the name “Irma Grindz.” What is known is deeply troubling and raises a slew of red flags.
On Aug. 30, 2024, she was last seen in the Hammer at the notorious Sankofa Restaurant and Lounge (yes, same name as the idiotically renamed Dundas Square) with a new acquaintance named Ashley. The restaurant has been the scene of several shootings and other violent incidents. In fact, the club was hit with a liquor licence suspension the night Galastica was last seen.
Detectives believe that from the after-hours club, Galastica and her new pal went to a house party on rural Old York Road in Burlington. Galastica texted her family that she did not expect to return home to Toronto that night.
The next day, when she didn’t return, her family filed a missing persons report with Toronto Police. Her new pal Ashley saw the media coverage and reached out to tell police and her family they had been at a man named Eric’s house.
She called 911 but it was disconnected
When Ashley left with a buddy, Irma decided to stay. Cops learned that in the early morning hours, she had called 911, but the call was quickly disconnected. Later, police obtained a search warrant for the party house and found a secret drug lab.
But there was not a trace of Irma Galastica.
Some friends fear the mother of one may have become ensnared in the clutches of a sex-trafficking ring. Others, and more than a few cops, fear the worst.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, at 11:34 a.m., police published their first missing persons appeal of the day. They were looking for information on a 39-year-old woman named Hang (no last name, as per policy) who had last been seen on Sept. 29 around 7 a.m. in the Jane St. and Sheppard Ave. W. area. TPS stated that they were concerned about Hang’s safety.
And the beat goes on.
Irma Galastica, now age 33, is 5-foot-5 with a medium build and shoulder-length black hair. If seen, or you know her whereabouts, call Halton Regional Police at 905-825-4777, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
