RUSSIA'S HYPERSONIC THREAT: Venezuela Just Became Ground Zero!

A stark warning has emerged from Moscow, hinting at a significant escalation in support for Venezuela. Russian officials are openly discussing the potential delivery of hypersonic missile technology to the South American nation, a move explicitly framed as a deterrent against possible U.S. intervention.

Alexei Zhuravlyov, a key figure on Russia’s parliamentary defense committee, suggested that the United States could face unforeseen consequences should it attempt to forcibly remove Nicolás Maduro from power. He specifically mentioned the availability of advanced systems like the Oreshnik and Kalibr missiles for Venezuela.

The Oreshnik missile, according to President Putin, possesses a destructive capability rivaling that of a nuclear weapon, even with conventional warheads. This claim underscores the gravity of the potential transfer and the message it sends to Washington.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Russian President Vladimir Putin shake hands during a diplomatic meeting in a formal setting.

The deployment of the Oreshnik in late 2024 was itself a calculated response. Russia positioned the system in eastern Ukraine following Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory using long-range weaponry supplied by Western allies, including the United States and the United Kingdom.

This escalation follows a direct appeal from Maduro to both Moscow and Beijing for military assistance. Reports indicate that former President Trump was actively planning an operation aimed at ousting the Venezuelan leader, prompting Maduro’s desperate plea for support.

Maduro’s request wasn’t limited to missiles. He specifically sought additional Sukhoi Su-30MK2 fighter jets, characterizing them as a crucial element in Venezuela’s defense against potential conflict. These aircraft represent a significant component of Venezuela’s existing military capabilities.

While focusing on the situation in Venezuela, Russia has also voiced concerns regarding the use of force in international operations. A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson condemned what they described as “excessive military force” employed in anti-drug operations, a veiled reference to potential U.S. actions.
