The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently announced the voluntary withdrawal of prazosin hydrochloride capsules, raising concerns for patients who rely on this drug for their health.
Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and Amerisource Health Services initiated the recall, encompassing various strengths of the medication. This wasn’t a decision taken lightly; the FDA’s investigation revealed a potential presence of a dangerous contaminant within the capsules.
Prazosin is frequently prescribed to manage hypertension, working by gently relaxing blood vessels to reduce pressure. Beyond blood pressure, it offers relief for those battling the distressing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, specifically debilitating nightmares and sleep disturbances.
